Labour Law

Develops rights and duties for the employer and worker, born in labor law. In Panama, labor law is governed by constitutional parameters established in Title III, Chapter 3, of the Constitution, geared toward protecting the rights of workers under the principles of social justice.

A union is an organization of workers gathered for the defense and promotion of their social, economic and professional interests related to their work or to the center of production (factory, workshop, company) or employer association with which they are contractually related. Collective bargaining takes place between workers of a company or sector, represented by a union or group of unions and representatives of the company or companies. The purpose of negotiation is to reach an agreement on working conditions for workers. This activity is protected and regulated by Panamanian law.
